[edit] Chapter1: Eight years of Peace

Link nodded at Zelda, exciting the courtyard.
"Link,"
Link turned to see Impa, Zelda's bodyguard; a shieka.
"Yes?" Link asked.
Impa tossed Link his sword. He caught it deftly.
"What?" He asked.
"What?" She said. "It's time for practice!"
Link cocked his head.
"But, I thought we did training around sunset."
Impa shook her head. "I'm going to go to Death Mountain starting nightfall."
"Oh, okay," Link said, walking with Impa to the Training Grounds.
Link was silent.
Suddenly, Navi flew up.
"Hi, Link! Whatcha doin?"
Link simply stared off into space, looking at clouds pass over the sun.
"Hey, Hero," Impa elbowed him.
He looked over to see impa smiling.
"What are you thinking about?"
Link shrugged."Many things..."
Impa was silent to, crossing her arms and looking at him with a penatrating stare.
Link sighed. "The ocarina, Gannondorf.... Zelda."
"Are you still having that dream?" Impa's face went serious.
"Y... Yes, I am."
Navi flew in front of Link's face. "Dream, what dream?"
"Oh, its... its nothing, navi, really."
"It is, isn't it! You've been having dreams and not telling me!"
Impa laughed. "Like the one where you swatted at Navi with the Master Sword?"
Link blushed.
"LINK!!!!"
Link laughed nervously. "oh, c-come on, Navi!"
Navi's glow turned red in anger. "I KNEW IT! THE DIKU TREE CAN'T ALWAYS BE RIGHT! YOU'RE A CARELESS BRAT!"
She flew off.
Link looked downcast.
"Do you think I should--"
"No, Link." Impa assured him.
"She'll be fine, you aren't eight anymore after all. You're Seventeen; she'll understand."
Link smiled. "Yeah..."
"So, what where you thinking about?" Impa asked, as the entered the grounds.
Link shrugged, doing some warm up streaches. "I already told you, Gannondorf, the Ocarina, oh, and the dream."
Impa smiled. "Zelda too."
"Link smiled meekly. "Yes, Zelda too. I am her ambassador, what do you expect?"
Impa smiled, hefting her Shieka dagger. "Nothing less, now, lets fight."

Link swung at Impa. "YAH!"
Impa dodged and sliced at link sideways. He leapt to the side, swinging at her with the short sword; he was slowing down, though, they had been fighting for hours.
Impa parried and slashed at his shoulder.
"Ahg!" Link yelped in pain.
"Link, are you alright?" Link simply hefted his sword. "I-I wasn't thinking."
He made to run at her, but she put her hands on her hips, looking at Link with a mix of the stern glare of a trainer and the concern of a friend.
"Link, you have to think, we're in the middle of a fight, had that happened for real, you'd be dead!"
Link sat down. "Yeah, I know."
He wiped the sweat off his face, sitting down on a bench and crossing his arms over his brown pants. He sighed, staring at the folds of the fabric on the sleaves of his white shirt.
"Link, if it's about the dream,"
Link shook his head. "I just can't get over it. It was like a replay of my life; I defeated Gannon, and suddenly it went to this sequence where a ray of light I just know is me shown out and drove away the clouds. It was like that for a while, but then from the midst of the light a darkness erupted... obscuring the light... a darkness in me."
Impa put a hand on Link's shoulder. "It isn't the safety of Hyrul you're conserned about."
Link's eyebrows frowned deeply.
"I-Impa?"
Impa folded her hands. "What is it, Link?"
"Do you... do you think I've got a lot to offer?"
Impa shrugged, getting up and putting away the equipment. "Oh, I don't know. You live here in the castle. You can fight well too."
Link shook his head. "That's not enough..."
Impa started cleaning her dagger. "Oh, you're happy, that's more than gold and gewels."
Link sighed. "May I use the Forge tonight undisturbed, Impa?"
Impa looked at him seriously. "Yes,"
Link got up abruptly.
"Link,"
Link turned. "yes, Impa."
"Tommorow you'll be eighteen, right?"
Link nodded, and he looked both excited and aprehencive. "Yes, Impa, I will be."
"Eighteen is the Legal age for marrage, isn't it Link?"
Link took a deep breath. "Yes, Impa. It is."
